Global Book Services

About Us

Over twenty years ago, we responded to a  request from a beleaguered Spanish bookseller to devise a secure, agile and economical alternative to the prohibitive cost of couriers and the inadequacies of the postal service from the U.K.  Having had no previous first-hand experience of the  publishing or bookselling industries,  in order to produce a solution we were largely dependent upon the bookseller’s input in defining the problem.

The ensuing package successfully addressed the shortcomings previously endured by our first customer and his initial blueprint remains to this day at the core of our range of services.  However,  apart from the product having been honed and enhanced by necessity over the years to satisfy the demands of an evolving marketplace, it soon became apparent that the requirement was not for a rigid “one size fits all”  format but that each bookselling operation presents its own peculiarities. Flexibility has been a fundamental element in our success in extending our services across Western Europe.

Nobody has a more intimate knowledge of the day-to-day challenges of the bookshop and its supply chain than the bookseller himself so, just as we did twenty years ago, we go to great lengths to consult with him to identify his specific requirements before moulding the definitive bespoke package.

We could not hope to provide a seamless transition without having an in-depth understanding of the  requirements and capabilities of the publishers and their distributors.  At the nerve centre of our operation, our Customer Care teams, both at home and abroad,  are exhaustively trained in approaching situations from the standpoints of both bookseller and publisher with whom they are in constant liaison.

In everything we undertake, we never lose sight of our main objective: to promote and support the sale of English-language books in Europe by providing a first-class link in the supply chain between publishers and booksellers.
